Who We Are

The Hoosier Academies, public charter school programs authorized by Ball State University, combine the accountability of public education with a unique blend of traditional, brick-and-mortar schooling and online learning. Approved through the BSU Office of Charter Schools to open two separate charters in Indianapolis and Muncie beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, the Hoosier Academies are providing an innovative, highly effective education for Indiana students in grades K-10.

Each charter operates its own learning center where students will enjoy regular, face-to-face instruction with a state-certified teacher for more than half of their weekly instruction. The remainder of the weekly instruction is facilitated off-site with a Learning Coach.

The Hoosier Academies use the K¹² curriculum to offer Indiana students in grades K-10 an exceptional learning experience. With individualized learning approaches, the Hoosier Academies and K¹² provide the tools kids need to succeed—in school and beyond.
