Our Courses
Robust Catalog, Highest Quality Courses
K¹², a CITA-accredited leader in the development of online curriculum, provides a robust high school catalog of more than 90 core, elective, and AP® courses. Unlike many other online high school programs, our core subject area courses are K¹² propriety courses. Most other curriculum providers offer a hodge-podge of third-party licensed courses as their catalog, which is where we differ significantly. The quality of our curriculum should be one of the most important factors in your decision about where to enroll.
K¹² Math, Language Arts, Science, and History courses are offered in multiple versions – Core, Comprehensive, Honors, and AP (where applicable) to meet the needs of diverse learners with diverse goals. Up to four levels of World Languages are offered as well, depending on the particular language. Finally, students can enroll in a variety of electives such as anthropology, Web design, digital photography, and more to round out their course-taking. Students can take Core level in some subjects and Honors or AP courses in others—as they build the path to post-high school success that is right for them.
Not all Online Courses are Made the Same
K¹² serves more online courses to the K-12 market than any other online curriculum provider—and this is in large part because we set the highest standard of course quality.
For instance, unlike many other course providers, we don’t just scan a textbook and call it an online course. K¹² courses are designed and developed for online delivery from the outset. Our team of curriculum experts and course designers starts from scratch, thoroughly scoping out the learning objectives for each course, and mapping out a strategy for how best to accomplish those objectives using online text, graphics, charts, illustrations, interactive demonstrations, offline reading materials or activities, and interactive online discussions. And to ensure we’ve gotten it right, we then conduct usability testing with our intended audiences to make sure they can easily navigate through the lessons and master the learning objectives as intended.
We know that the combination of rich, engaging content with interesting, interactive demonstrations and activities helps students absorb and retain information. The use of graded assignments and assessments further allows students to demonstrate progress against learning objectives. Find out more about the K¹² approach to curriculum.
