Letter from Our Head of School
Dear Parent,
The Oregon Virtual Academy (ORVA) is an innovative new public school that makes it easy for you to be an active participant in your student’s education. ORVA families receive a complete curriculum, lesson planning programs, books and instructional materials, the use of a computer system, and the guidance of a state-licensed teacher. In short, everything you need for an excellent education.
The Oregon Virtual Academy uses the outstanding curriculum from K¹² featuring traditional subjects for kindergarten through eighth grade. Using this innovative learning program, ORVA provides an education that meets or exceeds state standards, and students demonstrate their knowledge and skills through state standardized tests.
While ORVA has requirements for grade advancement, the K¹² learning program allows elementary and middle school students to work at the pace that is right for them, allowing for greater flexibility than is typically possible in traditional schools. Placement tests are administered to ensure that each child will be matched to his or her level of proficiency.
We at ORVA are proud of our school, and we believe that it’s a great choice for families who are interested in being actively involved in their children’s education. We hope to welcome you soon to the Oregon Virtual Academy.
Best regards,
Todd Thorpe
